上のメールは昨夜遅くヘルスケア改革法案が下院を通過した後にオバマ大統領が大統領選挙の際に使った支持者のeメール・リストに載っている全ての有権者に送付したメッセージです。

面倒くさいのでイチイチ訳しませんが、オバマ大統領はこのヘルスケア改革案可決は国民の勝利だとして米国民を讃えるとともに、ヘルスケア業界がその資本力を総動員して最後の抵抗を試みることに対抗すべく、「OFA（Organizing for America）にカンパしてくれ！」と訴えています。

ニュースが出て、国民の関心がチョッと出た隙に、すかさずそれを最大限に利用している、、、

芸の細かい男です。

なお、オバマ大統領は「未だ就任してから、何の成果も出してない」という批判がありますが、昨日の土曜日は八面六臂の大活躍で下院法案をゴールまで押し込みました。これはたいへんな成果です。これで明らかにオバマはクリントンを超えたと言えるでしょう。（なぜならクリントンのヘルスケア改革は全くの不発に終わったから。）

いや、もっと正確に言えば、アメリカでこのような巨大なソーシャル・プログラムの改変は過去に２度しか起きていないのです。一回目は大恐慌時代にできたソーシャル・セキュリティー（社会保障）制度です。これは言わずと知れたフランクリン・ルーズベルトの功績。そして二回目はジョンFケネディーが暗殺されたとき、その遺志を継いだ形でメディケアが通過したときです。

つまり今回のような立法（まだ法案化までは道のりが残されてますが）が成立するのは極めて異例なのです。

アメリカはより沢山の予算を、より沢山の赤字を生みながら、より大きな政府がばら撒いてゆく、、、そういう国になるのです。とりあえず２０１２年までに１００兆円のヘルスケア絡みのお金が現在の配分と違う割合で再分配されるのです。これは超ド級の金額であることは今更言うまでもありません。
